Safety is key when moving oversized loads and caution must be used whenever a load could possibly contact a power line. When a load is 16 feet or higher the carrier must provide an overload notification form to any utility that owns power lines that cross the route. Nebraska law now requires that electric utilities be notified in writing 10 days prior to an oversized load being transported through their service territory. The transporter must carry with them written acknowledgement from each utility the load that will be moved through. The transporter will be required to provide this proof to law enforcement upon request. Failure to do so could result in a $1,000 fine. The fine for manipulation of a utility infrastructure has also been increased to $1,000 per incident.
